In the 17th century, this thing was basically the cement factory of Câmara de Lobos.

Fun Fact: Limestone is a rock made from ancient sea creature remains, so you're literally build your house with fossils

High up on the winding road to Pico do Arieiro, far above Funchal’s sun‑drenched harbour, sits a curious stone dome that looks as if it has been transplanted from the Arctic.
