Taberna do Areeiro

Granted, this Poncha Place is known to a lot of locals. It´s location is also very interesting. It is nested right at the edge of a busy section. Maybe that's why it's so famous. But what struck us the most were the sizes of the glasses and the high volume of alcohol they use in the Poncha.

This place is open almost every day and locals love it. Not even the oldest Madeirean alive can't remember when it was last closed ever. Sometimes you don't get a sit at night and have to use one of the sideroads pillars as a temporary table. It's fun and the poncha is good.

If you ever happen to pass this poncha place nested between Funchal and Camara de Lobos. Hop in and have a Poncha.
