Looking for sun loungers, cocktails, and someone to fluff your towel? Keep looking! Praia da Maiata doesn’t do fancy, but it does offer something better: epic waves, jaw-dropping scenery, and black sand that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into an action movie.

Nestled in Porto da Cruz, this beach is pure drama in the best way—towering green mountains, crystal-clear water, and a raw, untamed vibe that surfers absolutely love. And if you’re wondering about the waves, just ask the experts—they’ve already given them five stars.

But be warned: there are no lifeguards yelling "Get out of the rip current!", no showers to rinse the salt out of your hair. Just you, your board, and the ocean. Oh, and if you see someone in swimwear without a surfboard… they’re probably lost.

If you fancy a bit more comfort like a shower and bar then it is a better idea to head to the Beach at the left side of this beach called Alagoa Beach.
