Portas Vermelhas

"Portas Vermelhas" which translates to "Red Doors" and surprise surprise the doors are red. Didn't take us so long to figure out that one. But inside is the whole story of why the doors are red. And to make it short and sexy it's because there was once a Lady with Red lipstick and she was in Love with a young and sexy Camachan Boy and she always left her number with red lipstick on the door so he could call her. But he was shy and never called her. And at one point the whole door was red from all the lipstick.

Well, that was all a lie :-) It is a good story though. The truth is, that the paint was protecting the door against erosion. It also was so shiny that it was easy to find.
As with so many other places before it was a small Market. 1955 to be exact but it has changed since then to a lovely Poncha Bar which is found between Camacha and Santo de Serra. The Poncha was freshly made and we loved the colors of the Place.

The experience is nice the place is fantastic and the Poncha tastes super delicious. Oh yeah, and there is a Hike even passing right through this place. It's a 15 km hike but it is worth it. If you are interested here it is: Camacha Loop Trail
